How can we help?

Find answers to common questions about managing your home inventory with JustTaggit.

Getting Started

Creating your account
  • Sign up with your email and a password, or use Sign in with Google for one-tap access.
  • Check your inbox and click the confirmation link to activate your account.
  • Once confirmed, you're taken straight to your dashboard — ready to start tagging.
Understanding your free plan
  • 5 items and 1 property are included free.
  • You get 50 MB of document storage on the free plan.
  • Temporary QR codes are allocated when you sign up so you can start immediately.
  • When you're ready for more, visit the Subscription page to explore Home Pro.

QR Codes & Stickers

Claiming your first tag
  • Point your phone camera at any JustTaggit QR sticker — it opens the claim page.
  • Enter the item name and any details you'd like to record.
  • If you're not signed in yet, you'll be prompted to create an account — your claim is saved automatically.
  • Once confirmed, the item appears on your dashboard, linked to that sticker.
Temp codes vs. permanent stickers
  • Temp codes are assigned when you sign up so you can start tagging straight away — they expire after your stickers have been dispatched.
  • Permanent vinyl stickers are physical stickers you attach to items — they last as long as the sticker does.
  • When your stickers arrive, scan one and choose Transfer to move your item data from a temp code to the new sticker.
  • All item details, documents, and reminders carry across — nothing is lost.
Requesting free sticker packs
  • Go to Request Stickers from your dashboard.
  • Enter your postal address — we'll send a pack of vinyl QR stickers for free.
  • You can request up to 5 stickers on the free plan.
  • Track your request status — it will show as *Pending* (being prepared) or *Sent* (in the post).
Printing QR codes at home
  • Visit the Print QR page from your dashboard.
  • Select which codes to print using the range selector.
  • Codes are laid out in a neat 3 × 4 grid — 12 per page.
  • Print on adhesive label paper or regular paper and tape them to your items.

Managing Items

Adding an item manually
  • Tap Add Item from your dashboard.
  • Enter the item name — plus optional details like make, model, serial number, and purchase info.
  • Choose a category and room to keep things organised.
  • Custom fields may appear depending on the category you select.
Editing item details
  • Open an item from your dashboard and tap Edit.
  • Update any field — name, category, room, purchase info, notes, and more.
  • Move an item to a different property by changing its collection.
  • Changes are saved immediately when you confirm.
Deleting an item
  • Open the item, tap Edit, then scroll down to Delete Item.
  • Confirm the deletion — this removes the item and frees up its QR code.
  • Uploaded documents for that item are also removed.
Warning:Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Finding items on your dashboard
  • Items are grouped by room so you can scan them at a glance.
  • Use the property tabs at the top to switch between properties.
  • Warranty and service alerts appear as badges on item cards so you can spot what needs attention.

Documents & Photos

Uploading documents to an item
  • Open an item and go to the Documents section.
  • Tap Upload and select a file — PDF, JPG, PNG, or WebP (up to 10 MB per file).
  • Choose a category: Receipt, Manual, Certificate, Photo, or Other.
  • Your document is stored securely and linked to that item.
Setting document visibility
  • Each document can be marked as Public or Private.
  • Public documents are visible to anyone who scans the item's QR code.
  • Private documents are only visible to you when signed in.
Tip:Keep receipts private but make manuals public — handy if someone else needs to operate the item.

Sharing & Privacy

Making an item publicly visible
  • Edit an item and toggle Public View on.
  • Anyone who scans the QR code (or follows the link) can see the item details — no account needed.
  • You choose which fields are shown and which stay private.
Controlling which fields are private
  • When editing an item, you can mark individual fields as private.
  • Private fields (e.g. serial number, purchase price) are hidden from the public view.
  • Only you see the full picture when signed in.
Sharing an item link
  • Open any item and tap the Copy Link button next to the QR code.
  • Send the link to anyone — they'll see the public view (if enabled).
  • This is the same URL the QR sticker points to.

Properties & Transfers

Managing a property
  • Open a property and tap Manage.
  • Update the name, type, or address at any time.
  • Deleting a property will warn you about how many items it contains — you'll need to move or delete them first.
Moving items between properties
  • Edit the item and change the Collection field to a different property.
  • The item and all its documents move to the new property instantly.
  • Its QR code stays the same — no need to re-print anything.
Transferring a property to someone else
  • Open the property, tap Manage, then Transfer Property.
  • Enter the recipient's email — they must have a JustTaggit account.
  • Optionally include a message (e.g. "Here's the flat inventory!").
  • The recipient receives an email and has 7 days to accept before it expires.
  • On acceptance, everything transfers — all items, documents, and QR codes.
Tip:Perfect for: selling a home, handing off a rental, or giving a vehicle to a family member.
Accepting or declining a transfer
  • When someone sends you a property, you'll see a notification on your dashboard.
  • Go to Transfers to review the details — sender, message, and expiry date.
  • Tap Accept to take ownership, or Decline to refuse.
  • You can also view and cancel any transfers you've sent to others.

Warranty & Service Reminders

Setting a warranty reminder
  • When adding or editing an item, fill in the Warranty Expiry date.
  • You'll receive email reminders at 30 days and 7 days before expiry.
  • Items with upcoming or expired warranties show alert badges on your dashboard.
Setting up service schedules
  • Enter a Next Service Date and a Frequency (in months) on any item.
  • Great for boiler servicing, vehicle MOTs, appliance maintenance, etc.
  • You'll get email reminders before each service is due, and overdue items are flagged on your dashboard.

Your Account

Updating your profile
  • Go to Account from the sidebar.
  • Update your display name — this is shown on transfer invitations.
Changing your password
  • Go to Account and scroll to the password section.
  • Enter your new password and confirm it.
  • If you've forgotten your password, use the Forgot Password link on the sign-in page.
Deleting your account
  • Go to Account and scroll to the bottom.
  • Tap Delete Account and type "DELETE" to confirm.
  • This permanently removes your account, items, documents, and all data.
Warning:This action cannot be undone. Make sure you've transferred any properties you want to keep first.
